Join the ACD

The Association of Collaborative Design (ACD) is a social enterprise with a mission to mainstream collaborative design across the built environment, democratise design, create better neighbourhoods and inspire long term stewardship.

Being involved voluntarily with the ACD Team can gain valuable experience, allow you to raise your profile, and meet useful contacts.

 

There is never a presumption that committee members can absorb more than a couple of activities at any one time on behalf of the ACD. An average month will include weekly meetings, an online event and flexible role-based support, totalling approximately 16 hours per month. Although there are defined roles, we are a lateral working and dynamic organisation.

We are aiming for people to join our volunteer team in March 2021.

We welcome and encourage those currently underrepresented in our workforce and the built environment sector; particularly working-class people, people of colour, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender people, and disabled people (as defined by the Equality Act 2010). 

TREASURER 

Responsible for finances

Activities include: 

  • Liaising with ACD finance regarding the effective management of the finances and account. 

  • Advice on the budget forecast, and contribute to any decisions regarding an event or other expenditure. 

  • With the Chairs authorising payment for purchases and of expenses within budget and in line with ACD procedures. 

  • Raising invoices and ensuring payments and any other income (including events delegate fees) is placed into the account. 

  • Prepare and present monthly financial reports for the team. 

  • Prepare and present the Annual Accounts and inform ACD in line with ACD procedures and timeline. 

CO-SECRETARY 

Responsible for general organisation and administration.

Activities include: 

  • Manage the AGM to be held in April each year according to ACD rules and procedures and notify the ACD membership team of committee membership details. 

  • Prepare and present a short report to the Annual General Meeting. 

  • Support  Committee meetings by circulating notice and agenda, prepare and circulate notes of decisions/action points. 

  • Manage correspondence received and ensured responded to by appropriate committee members promptly in line with ACD rules and procedures. 

 

IT AND WEBSITE SUPPORT. 

Activities include: 

  • Keep the website updated with new content as it becomes available.

  • Set up Zoom events and calls, and research more effective platforms if necessary

  • Resolve any technical issues with website, e.g. software issues

MEMBERSHIP AND NETWORK DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT

Activities include: 

  • Support ACD Business Development Lead in widening the reach of the membership/network through opportunity identification and contact

  • Manage the membership/network database

  • Manage the communications content to the membership/network

  • Liaise with the membership on issues and queries

  • Provide regular updates to the ACD Team on membership numbers, issues, income
